I was just talking to one of my engineers. We are doing a book swap I'm giving him Game of Thrones because he saw the first episode and couldn't believe what he was watching so he's hooked. I gave nothing away and he is giving me something from one his favorite authors.

Lord Varys (Conleth Hill)-aka "The Spider." The Master of Whispers. There is no question about which side Varys is on-he's on HIS. A Eunuch, everybody naturally distrusts and fears him. There is virtually nothing in the Seven Kingdoms that he is not aware of. His 'little birds' are everywhere. There is great rivalry between him and Littlefinger-the two smoothest operators in the Realm.

I can't help myself but this is how I picture Varys from the book.

Almost 3/4 way through. Theon did his nasty job in WInterfell and I'm at where Catelyn is confronting Jame Lannister in the cell and Cersie has picked up the wrong whore thinking its the Imps.

I've been giving it a go because HBO rarely stumbles in the Sunday night drama spot. I am not however a fan of this kind of stuff and am waiting for something to reveal some relevance or purpose for making this series. Perhaps I'll see it yet. My only real disappointment in HBO so far in the Sunday night drama department was "Carnival". After a while I didn't care and it couldn't redeem itself for the time I put into it.

Bronn (Jerome Flynn)-a mercenary with a sardonic sense of humor. This is the guy that Tyrion paid to get his room. Watch out for him. He becomes more and more important as the story progresses.

For some odd reason I rather like Bronn, but then again I like the "Hound" also.

Danaerys Targaryn
I don't know what it is Phil but she is the character I'm least interested in.
This morning I skipped one of her chapters toward the end of book two. I wish she would just buy a boat and hire a crew and sail already or get in the sack with Ser Mormount what ever his name is. I know her stupid pets are important somewhere further down the story line but enough already with her. :x

The Direwolves are more interesting. :-k

I don't know Phil, Catelyn is still important, I can't wait to find out if Arya finds her mother and what happens after that.
