NASCAR road rage, young driver dead after walking onto track

Postby Marie » Sun Aug 10, 2014 3:10 am

Opinions of raw video viewers differ as to whether or not Stewart deliberately clipped Ward in a fishtail motion, or whether he was speeding up to try and get past the kid --
Tony Stewart hit and killed driver KEVIN WARD, JR., who walked toward Stewart's sprint car Saturday night after the two had an altercation at Canandaigua (N.Y.) Motorsports Park, according to authorities, witnesses and video of the tragedy. . . .

The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the victim, whom it did not name, was declared dead on arrival at the hospital, according to a reporter who was at the sheriff's news conference.

You find out what someone is really like in "battle," and Olbermann is who you want to be in a foxhole with, Patrick said. "On the air, we had each others' backs," said Olbermann.

"It's just an unbelievable tragedy." -Greg Zipadelli

Nevertheless, NASCAR makes the decision to go ahead with today's CheezIt355 (the name of the race lending its own surreal quality to the proceedings).

UPDATE:
After Keith criticized, the original insensitive tweet was deleted from NASCAR's TL.

In response to which a NASCAR aficionado tweets:
whatever problem you had with NASCAR's tweet, it pails in comparison to your treatment of fans today.

Yes, it pails. Like, buckets.
