Countdown 12/18/08

Postby MrsData » Thu Dec 18, 2008 8:57 pm

I appreciate that Barack attempts to reach out to those who disagree with him like Warren and evangelicals...I just don't like Warren because he is Falwell, just not angry. On the other hand, when people like him visited W's White house you knew that everyone would try to implement their beliefs like writing gay marriage ban into the constitution and limiting reproductive rights. That's not the case with Barack because at the Saddleback forum he didn't change his positions to please the audience like McCain did. Pundits, analysts and reporter criticized him based on the crowds reaction yet they would have still ripped him if he had announced that he was suddenly for banning gay marriage and is anti-choice.

I just won't pay attention when Warren speaks on day of the inauguration.

I'm curious if Rick Warren voted for Obama , Doubtful...
At least Aretha Franklin is going to sing after Warren is done with his hoaxes poxes...
Or another way to look at it, The ceremony will start with someone on the right, and be completed with a benediction by a hero of the civil rights movement, Joseph E. Lowery. Out with the Old, In with the New.

"When you talk about the law discriminating, the law granting a privilege here, and a right here and denying it there, that's a civil rights issue. And I can't take that away from anybody." Joseph E. Lowery (ABC News, 03/13/04)

That'd be a good note to close the inauguration on.

Here are a few articles on Rev. Lowery.

LOL, Hannity thought Obama bribed the Times magazine to make him Person of the Year... when actually the Person of the Year usually goes to whoever wins the election.

Well, the phrase, "Hannity thought" is sort of an oxymoron, isn't it??
"As for our common defense, we reject as false the choice between our safety and our ideals...These ideals still light the world and we will not give them up for expedience's sake."

Karen's Keithie: Hannity's name should be in the dictionary as the meaning of oxymoron.

Well, maybe without the 'oxy-' part.

I love it that KO refers to Hannity as Manatee--from Trillin's "Plump as a manatee" description of SH.

I thought the manatee reference was related to the poem John Cleese wrote and read when he appeared on Countdown a few weeks ago.

Mannatee predates Cleese. I think he got it from Keith.
